Start of a Daily Photo series

I’ve decided to start a daily photos series going, for two reasons:

  1. I haven’t got anything else to post about at the moment (well nothing that I want to write about) and that’s a bit of a problem because I haven’t updated Jylanization for over 1 month.
  2. I think everyone likes pretty photos, and that’s a good thing because I can distract you from my lack of proper content :-) .

Anyway, I’m going to try and post a photo from my area every day. A feature of WordPress that allows me to save a group of posts and then publish in the future will help me with that. So without further ado, here is the first photo:

Mint : Vegetable Photo Series

The sixth and last photo in the vegetable series contains some nice, refreshing mint leaves. Mint is an aromatic herb almost exclusively used for flavouring. It tastes very fresh and clean, a lot like artificial mints. More information can be found on the Wikipedia mint article. By the way, I think that the mint below is the garden type. There are actually about 25 species and many more varieties of mint. Of course, more can be found on the Wikipedia article.

Chives : Vegetable Photo Series

The fifth photo in the vegetable series is a chive. Chives are actually a species of the onion family and you can find out more by going to the looking up the Wikipedia article on chives.

Scallion : Vegetable Photo Series

The fourth photo in the vegetable series has the subject of one lone scallion. You can find out more by going to the article on scallions at Wikipedia. In case you’re wondering, yes Australians do call this plant the shallot but its proper name is a scallion.

By the way, when you go to the shallot image on Contrasting Sharply you might notice that instead of the thick border around the image, you’ll now find a thinner one with some padding. Likewise on the home page, I’ve got rid of the intro text and big clunky borders. Go and have a look!

Parsley : Vegetable Photo Series

The third photo in the vegetable series is all about parsley. You can find out more by going to the parsley article on Wikipedia.
