Now this morning, I turned it on again to find that it wasn’t the BBC any more. Then I heard the announcer say that I was listening to ABC Newsradio. So as soon as I connected to the net today I looked up the Newsradio website and found a link to a listing of new frequencies. It seems that in April 2007 Senator Helen Coonan, the former Liberal Federal Communications Minister had announced a rollout of about 70 new frequencies over the next 3 years.

Rockhampton had the luck to be included in the first rollout and sure enough, it was listed under the frequency 105.5 FM.

I guess the strange thing about the rollout is that I didn’t see or hear anything about it in the media. Did you? It probably goes to show just how few people are really interested in hearing non-stop news. I know that I will be an avid listener though
